Your current site is costing you customers. Let's fix that.
Seven signs your Iowa business website needs a redesign
Most business owners know something is wrong with their site before they can name it. Leads dried up. A competitor passed them in search results. A customer mentioned the site looked old. Here are the specific signals we look for in a free audit:
It loads slowly on mobile
Google uses your mobile load speed as a ranking signal. If your site takes more than 3 seconds to load on a phone, you are penalized in search and losing visitors before they read a single word.
It was built on the wrong platform
Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy Website Builder, and ClickFunnels are not built for search. They generate bloated code, limit your schema options, and lock your content in a platform you do not own.
It has not been updated in years
An outdated site signals to both Google and visitors that your business may not be active. Stale content, old copyright dates, and broken functionality erode trust before a prospect ever contacts you.
It does not rank for your city
If someone searches "your service + your city" and you do not appear on page one, your site is not doing its job. Local search requires specific page structure and signals that most older sites were never built with.
It is not mobile-friendly
Google's mobile-first indexing means the mobile version of your site determines your rankings. A site that works on desktop but breaks on a phone is actively hurting your search visibility.
It has no clear path to contact
If a visitor has to hunt for your phone number, contact form, or next step, most of them will not bother. Every page of your site should make it obvious what to do next and easy to do it.
You are embarrassed to share it
This is the most honest signal. If you hesitate before sending your URL to a potential client or partner, that hesitation is costing you business. Your site should be something you are proud to share.

Rebuild from scratch or redesign on your existing site?
This is the first question we answer in every audit. The answer depends on your platform and your current URL structure — not on how old your site looks.
Rebuild from scratch is the right call when your site is on a platform that cannot be migrated cleanly — Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy Website Builder, ClickFunnels, or a severely outdated WordPress install with no recoverable structure. In these cases, rebuilding on a fresh WordPress install is faster and cheaper long-term than trying to salvage a foundation that was never designed for search performance. We map 301 redirects from every old URL to its new equivalent so any existing link equity and search history transfers to the new site.
Redesign on your existing WordPress install is the right call when your foundation is sound — your URLs are clean, your content has search equity worth keeping, and the platform is already WordPress. In this case, we redesign the front end, restructure the content architecture, and improve technical performance without disrupting what is already working in search. Your URL history stays intact, your existing rankings are protected, and the transition is invisible to Google.
We will tell you honestly which path makes sense after a quick look at your site. We have no incentive to recommend a full rebuild when a redesign will get you there — and no incentive to recommend a band-aid redesign when your platform is the problem.
Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?
This is the question every Iowa business owner asks before committing to a redesign — and it is the right question. A poorly executed redesign can wipe out years of search equity in days. We have seen it happen to sites that came to us after another agency launched a redesign without a redirect plan.
Here is exactly what we do to protect your rankings through a redesign:
Full URL audit before launch
We crawl your current site and document every indexable URL before we touch anything. That list becomes the redirect map — nothing gets left behind.
301 redirects for every changed URL
If any URL changes during the redesign, we write a 301 redirect from the old path to the new one. This tells Google the content has moved permanently and transfers the search equity to the new URL.
Preserved title tags and meta data
Any page that is already ranking keeps its title tag and meta description unless we have a specific reason to improve it. We do not reset what is already working.
Post-launch crawl and index check
After launch we verify that Google can crawl and index every page, that no redirect chains exist, and that Search Console shows no coverage errors. We do not hand off and disappear.
The businesses that lose rankings during a redesign almost always had one thing in common: nobody mapped the redirects. We have never had a client lose rankings from a redesign we managed.
What a website redesign looks like in practice
Diamond House Cleaning came to us with a site built on ClickFunnels. Every primary page was non-indexable — Google could not read them. The URLs contained garbage strings. The content was generic with no mention of the eight Des Moines-area cities they actually served.
We rebuilt on WordPress with a hub-and-spoke architecture: one central page with eight city-specific service pages. We migrated the domain, mapped 301 redirects to preserve existing link equity, added LocalBusiness schema, and coordinated launch with a Google Ads strategy. Five months post-launch they were ranking for competitive local terms. Two months after ads went live: 60 new leads, 20 new customers. Their previous ceiling was 2-3 new customers a month.

How much does a website redesign cost in Iowa?
Most redesigns fall in the same range as new builds: $2,500 to $8,000 depending on scope, complexity, and how much content needs to be restructured. A five-page redesign on an existing WordPress install costs less than a full platform migration with new content architecture. We give you a firm estimate before any work begins — no deposits, no surprises. See our full pricing.
How long does a website redesign take?
Most redesigns take four to six weeks from kickoff to launch. Platform migrations — moving from Wix, Squarespace, or ClickFunnels to WordPress — can take slightly longer depending on how much content needs to be rebuilt. We keep you updated throughout and will tell you clearly if something is causing a delay.
Will I lose my Google rankings during a redesign?
Not if the redirects are handled correctly. We crawl your current site before touching anything, document every indexable URL, and write 301 redirects for every URL that changes. Any page that is already ranking keeps its title tag and meta data unless we have a specific reason to improve it. We have never had a client lose rankings from a redesign we managed.
Do I need a full rebuild or just a redesign?
It depends on your current platform and URL structure. If you are on Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, or ClickFunnels, a rebuild on WordPress is almost always the right call — these platforms cannot be migrated cleanly and were not designed for search performance. If you are already on WordPress with clean URLs and content worth keeping, a redesign on your existing install is faster and preserves your SEO history. We will tell you honestly which path makes sense after a free audit.
Do you redesign sites you did not build?
Yes. Most of the redesign work we do is on sites built by other agencies, freelancers, or the business owner. We do not require that you have been a previous client. If your site is not performing, we will audit it, tell you what is wrong, and give you a straight estimate on what a redesign would cost.
What happens to my site after the redesign launches?
Every redesign we launch includes 12 months of WordPress care at no additional charge — core, plugin, and theme updates, daily backups, uptime monitoring, security scanning, and one round of content edits per month. After year one, ongoing care is $60 per month. You will not be handed off and left to figure it out yourself.
Not sure if your site needs a redesign? Start with a free audit.
We will crawl your site, check your rankings, flag your technical issues, and give you a plain-English report on what is wrong and what it would take to fix it. No cost. No obligation. No sales pressure — just an honest assessment from the people who would do the work.
