Who we are

Team 218 Web Services is a web design and SEO agency owned and operated by Kim and Chuck Hersey in Williamsburg, Iowa. Our website address is https://team218.com. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit our website or use our services.

Information we collect

Information you provide directly

When you fill out a form on our website (contact form, free audit request, or project onboarding form), we collect the information you submit. This may include your name, email address, phone number, business name, business address, website URL, and project details. We only collect information that you voluntarily provide.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, our web server records standard technical information in its logs, including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. Server logs are used for security and troubleshooting only.

If you accept optional cookies (see Cookies and consent below), Google Analytics also collects information about how you use the site, such as pages visited, time on page, and the source that brought you here. No analytics or advertising tool runs until you accept.

When you first visit our site, a banner asks whether you allow non-essential cookies. Nothing that shares your browsing data with a third party loads until you choose Accept.

Essential cookies. These are required for the site to work, such as session management, form submissions, and remembering your consent choice. WordPress and Divi may also set functional cookies related to site display. Essential cookies run whether you accept or reject.

Analytics and advertising cookies (optional). If you choose Accept, we load Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion measurement through the Google tag. These set cookies that measure page views, traffic sources, and conversions. Google may use this data as described in the Google Privacy Policy. If you choose Reject non-essential, these tools never load. We do not use session replay tools, chat widgets, or social media pixels.

Google Consent Mode. Google tags on this site start in a denied state and only switch to granted after you accept. Rejecting keeps them denied.

Changing your choice. Your choice is stored in a first-party cookie named t218_consent for 180 days. To change it, use the Privacy choices link in the footer of any page and the banner will appear again. Deleting the cookie in your browser settings has the same effect. Pressing Escape on the banner counts as rejecting non-essential cookies.

Consent records

Each time you accept or reject, we store a record on our own server so we can show that consent was asked and answered. The record contains the date and time, your choice, the page you were on, your browser type, and a one-way hashed version of your IP address. The hash cannot be reversed to identify you, and it is not linked to any form submission. We keep these records only as long as reasonably needed to demonstrate that consent was obtained.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your inquiry. When you fill out a contact form, audit request, or onboarding form, we use the information you provide to respond to your message and discuss your project.
  • To provide our services. If you become a client, we use your business information to design, develop, and maintain your website and deliver related services as outlined in your working agreement.
  • To improve our website. With your consent, we use analytics data to understand how visitors use our site, which pages are most visited, and how we can improve the user experience.
  • To measure advertising. With your consent, Google Ads conversion measurement tells us whether a visit that came from one of our ads led to a form submission. We do not build advertising profiles of individual visitors.
  • To communicate with you. We may use your email address or phone number to follow up on your inquiry, provide project updates, or share information relevant to services you have requested. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect payment card information through our website. Payments are processed through our digital invoicing provider, which handles payment data under its own security and privacy standards.

We do not collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or financial account details.

How we share your information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. We may share limited information with third-party tools we use to run our website and deliver our services, such as our web hosting provider (NameHero), form processing (Gravity Forms), and, only if you accept optional cookies, Google (Analytics and Ads). These providers access your data only to perform services on our behalf and are obligated to protect it.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental regulation, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Data retention

Contact form submissions and project onboarding data are retained for the duration of our business relationship and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping purposes. Consent records are kept as described above. Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention setting in our Google Analytics account. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us.

Your rights

You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You may also withdraw your cookie consent at any time by following the steps under Cookies and consent. To make a request, email team@team218.com or call 319-333-0815. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our tools or practices change. The date at the top of the page shows the most recent revision. Significant changes will be noted here.
