It’s everywhere you look this time of year. We’re talking about Pumpkin Spice! There’s really no pumpkin involved though. It’s a mixture of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, and cloves in varying amounts. In case you haven’t noticed, it’s become quite a phenomenon. People begin searching for it in August and then go into a funk when it disappears sometime in March or April.
It’s used to flavor all kinds of things – from hot and cold drinks to donuts, cakes and even cereal. I bet you could find Pumpkin Spice gum if you looked hard enough. People go a little nuts over the concept and while not a fan personally, I’ve been sent on several missions to locate its’ earliest appearance on store shelves. I’m sure they don’t keep track but I’ll wager the nation’s coffee shops receive quite a few calls asking if they have Pumpkin Spice yet.
Pumpkin Spice is taking up a lot of space on the internet too. A Google search of the term turns up 88,900,000 hits. That amount of results amounts to more than just a craze. I’d say it’s a borderline frenzy!
Since fall is here and Pumpkin Spice is available just about everywhere, why not grab your favorite and enjoy the changing season and your tasty treat. I’ll be sticking with regular coffee and satisfy any craving I have witha slice of Pumpkin Pie.
Enjoy!
