Discovery
When we begin a website project we have some key areas we focus on. Before any thought of web design, we focus entirely on discovery. Learning as much as possible about our client during discovery is one of our keys to a great website.
Taking a deep dive into an organization gives us a better understanding of what direction to take when it comes time to begin the design phase of the project. Discovery is also one of our favorite parts of the process. We get to learn about the history of the organization and the philosophy of the founders. How did this business come into existence? How does this company differentiate itself from its’ competition? What products or services do they provide? Who are their customers? Are they a brick and mortar business or strictly online? How do they market their product? What are their plans for the future?
On rare occasions during discovery we find that we are not a good fit and explain to the client that they would be better served with another web designer. It doesn’t happen very often but it does happen and we would rather decline a project than proceed and be less than 100% effective.
Discovery also works in the opposite direction. Our client needs to know all about Team 218 Web Design and feel comfortable that we are a good “fit” for their web design project. Clients need to understand our development process, know how we collaborate with them and be familiar with the tools we use to do that.
As we said, we really enjoy the discovery phase of a project. It’s always interesting to learn the ins and outs of a business and how diverse the business landscape can be. We would love to learn about your business so get in touch today and let’s create something great!
