An HTML (HyperText Markup Language) tag is a special type of markup used for structuring a web page. Tags are not visible to the user and they do not appear in the web page itself. They do, however, affect how your web page is interpreted by search engines, screen readers and other programs. Tags are made up of a few different parts. The most important part is the tag name. This is the part that appears in brackets. It is here that you tell the web browser what the tag is for. For example, the following is how a paragraph tag might be used. <p>Here is the actual content.</p>
