Meta tags are little bits of information you can add to your website’s HTML code (hypertext mark-up language) that describe the page to search engines. Search engines read these meta tags like book reviewers read reviews of books. Meta tags are very important for two reasons:
- They tell the search engine what your site is about.
- They tell the search engine how to best display your site in its results pages.
Here are some common Meta Tags:
<meta name=”description” content=”See Team 218 Web Services for Web Design/>
<meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress 5.8″ />
<meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, user-scalable=yes, initial-scale=1.0, minimum-scale=0.1, maximum-scale=10.0″>
